Arts and Artisans
When most people think of art and artisans, they picture paintings and painters. Here in Klickitat County of the Pacific Northwest we have expanded the concept. Oh yes, you will find oil painting, water colors, acrylics, bronze sculptures and foundries but you will also find potters, quilters, vintners, brewers, chefs, horsemen and many more. Your guests will get a chance to explore what the Smithsonian calls “America’s hidden treasure” a unique museum that was built from roads with exhibits provided by sugar and a dancer.
No longer content to walk through museums all day, your guests may prefer a more hands on experience and take classes from some of our fine professionals. These classes aren’t just oil or water color painting, fabric, photos but your guests will find themselves in a wonderful world of art and expand their idea of what art is and who are artists, including themselves.
Nature provides the most inspiring art and a special treat will be a gentle horseback ride in the foothills of the Cascades and into Alpine meadows. Along the way there may be wildlife and soaring eagles with other birds of prey.
Your guests will talk about this trip for years and perhaps plan to return with their friends to create more artful memories.
Audubon and Wildlife Seekers
The sky is still dark in the west. Above it’s the soft blue fading into a golden streaked sky. The call of a thrush is heard nearby and 30 pairs of binoculars turn as one.
Does this sound like one of your groups? Klickitat County in Southwestern Washington is on the International Fly Way and offers two great birding seasons. Add to that the numerous wildlife reserves where there are swans, white pelicans double and single crested cormorants and our resident population of bald headed eagles that will delight every birder group that you send.
To accompany your group to every location we have local and regional Audubon experts combined with local and state Park Service specialists that are eager to lead and assist your group. No matter if the group is beginners or world class birders, they will find Klickitat County a wonderful place. Adding to the many birds there are herds of several types of deer, occasional black bear, elk and other smaller wildlife.
The group will dine on Northwest Cuisine and world class wines and handcrafted brews. If they take a break from the feathered friends for some shopping they will have a choice of noted designers of jewels, paintings and sculptures as well as clothing and pottery along with a host and variety of other treasures.
You will find that every season has birds and adventures to send your birders home with photos, new friends and smiles as they plan to return.
