The project, which aims to transform the intersection of South Columbus and Main Street, was successfully completed in 2023. All four corners of the intersection have been revitalized, creating an “Island of Excellence” in the heart of the city.

Here are the key milestones:

  • Phase I (November 2021): Local artists Felicia and Scott Gray, along with Sandra Choate, played a crucial role in completing the initial phase. Seed funding from the City of Goldendale and the Klickitat County Economic Development Department supported this stage.
  • Phase II (June 2022): Generous donations from community members, foundations, the Washington State Legislature, and the Washington State Arts Commission enabled the project to progress. Work on Phase II began during this period.
  • Phase III (Fall 2022): The third phase is set to be completed in the coming months.
  • Phase IV (Early 2023): The project will continue with Phase IV, further enhancing the intersection.

Throughout this multi-year endeavor, the Goldendale Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber Art Committee have diligently shepherded the project, collaborating with volunteers, artists, and Chamber staff to bring their vision to life
